The sensitivity of the camera's on-sensor phase-detection pixels has been improved too, with a detection range of 0. Below are a few tests I did in the street nearby my home in Seoul to get a feel for how well the AF tracks. This is where you will see the biggest changes. It will be interesting to test this with running children soon! Excellent contrast between her and the background may have helped here. The Macro mode operation has been improved too.

Fujifilm X-T1 Firmware 4.0 First Look and Review
See more Cameras firmeare. This mode also uses more of the auto-focus pixels in its calculation, and thus improves AF speed significantly, particularly with older lenses.

Firmwarre use my Fujifilm X-T1 a lot for event photography, and previously impossible situations for the auto-focus system, like candlelit dinners, are now handled much more easily. It will be interesting to test this with running children soon! Renaming silent mode and improved framing lines are not really significant enough changes to talk about.
Not as good as my Nikons but very usable now. Being one of my favourite lenses in the lineup, this has been a boon for me in low light shooting. Below are some sample image sets.
Fuji X-T1 gets faster, better autofocus with a v firmware update | TechRadar
As a former IT worker and all-around nerd, I was used to firmware updates having small changes to increase compatibility with new hardware and software; often allowing older BIOSes to support newer hardware, etc. In good light, it will find faces and then locate eyes, giving them priority for auto focus. The shutter speed dial fix is also a small, but significant improvement.
You are able to select a grid of AF points, as the name suggests, and the camera will attempt to locate and lock onto a subject within that zone. It follows on from the v3. This lens is well known for being quite slow to focus as it rocks back and forth before locking onto a subject. With this gentleman, it did fine until the white truck drove behind him, when it missed 12 frames in a row, preferring to focus on the truck.
This is great when in changing light, as there's no need to turn the shutter dial anymore, which often knocks the metering dial and could mean missing a shot. The Zone mode offers 3x3, 5x3 or 5x5 focus zones from the 77 AF points now available, and it's designed to work with the continuous AF mode, where the centre AF point is used to track a moving object.
The largest change -- and the one most users are excited about -- is the new auto-focus system.
The firmware update obviously can't change the autofocus hardware built into the camera, but it does appear that Fuji has found new ways to use it. If they include image stabilization and sensor shift technology in the next x-series camera I will be switching over firmwae Fuji! In single AF, it makes much less sense to be using this, as I would normally be using single point or area AF.
In continuous low shooting mode, you are able fhji use the entire 77 point auto-focus system to track subjects in three dimensions.

Fujifilm's new X-T1 Firmware 4. Fuji says this will 'substantially' improve the X-T1's ability to capture moving subjects. New autofocus modes The firmware update obviously can't change the autofocus hardware built into the camera, but it does appear that Fuji has found new ways to use it.
His passions include travel, good food and drink, and time away from all things electronic. Fuji says this will be especially useful for those using the VG-XT1 vertical battery grip.
Wally Kilburg - July 2, Eye detection is just not dependable. Mokhtar Chahine - June 30, I updated my firmware last night, Today i took it to a family gathering. It takes quite a long time to get it's initial focus and even then it loses focus quite a bit with sharp contrast changes in the scene. This should make the camera much better at focusing in low light or with low-contrast subjects.
In any portrait shot, your subject's eyes are the one thing that needs to be sharp, and that's what the new Eye Detection AF mode is designed to achieve. Previously, you had to press the X-T1's Macro button to shoot close-up subjects with normal AF speed, but the with v4. Fuji users, I'd love to hear your experience with the new firmware below. The only thing that I feel could be improved in the usability of the new auto-focus system is the way the modes are elected.
These changes have brought huge improvements to already great cameras. Of the other improvements, this one is the most noteworthy.
